When it comes to the construction of wharves and jetties, long years of experience is what sets HSL apart. Working amidst some of the most challenging environments have earned us knowledge that allows us to approach any project with full confidence. Knowing from experience that no two projects are the same, we have learned to apply and innovate construction methodologies on a project-by-project basis. The result is a new level of constructability and sustainability that enables us to meet all the parameters of any project that comes into our hands.

The delivery of marine civil engineering projects with a high level of technical finesse is our forte. With well established construction capabilities, coupled with valued engineering experience, our engineers and project management team are constantly producing smart creative solutions and innovative designs to meet new challenges in the marine foreshore environment.
At HSL, our wide-array of services spans from design & build to third party maintenance & operations of existing jetties and ports. Whether clients are constructing marine facilities, demolishing offshore structures, dredging, reclaiming land or requiring operations and maintenance expertise, HSL is able to deliver cost effective solutions to all engineering problems.
Cooling water intake and outfall stations are near-shore structures built to facilitate the retrieval and release of sea water primarily used for cooling of utilities in refineries and petrochemical plants. We have the experience to design and construct cooling water intake and outfall stations customized to actual site conditions and clients’ specific needs. Apart from this, we also have an extensive track record in the shutdown maintenance and modification of existing stations.
Cofferdams are watertight temporary structures built on-site to facilitate the construction of subaqueous structures and foundation for shipyards and piers. We believe that constructing a stable cofferdam which meets the needs of the permanent works which it supports, and at minimum cost is of pivotal importance to the success of our clients’ projects. That is why we insist on conducting comprehensive analysis of actual site conditions before selecting a suitable construction methodology, thus delivering an optimal solution that consistently secures the best outcomes.
Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) ramps are inclined concrete structures built to facilitate vehicular movement on and off marine vessels. In a bid to achieve time- and cost-effective construction of such ramps, HSL has devised a unique precast segmented construction approach, providing an ingenious solution for easier building and better quality.
Performing precast works in an off-site facility totally eliminates the problems posed by tidal conditions and hence guarantees that we can deliver ramp panels of the highest quality. Proving again that by thinking out of the box and applying well-thought out methodologies, we are able to get things done faster, better and safer.
Demolition of offshore structures is carried out to facilitate new marine developments or when existing structures fall into disrepair and have to be dismantled. Prior to actually pulling down the structures and extracting the piles both above and under water, we conduct thorough studies to assess and manage environmental impact and safety issues. Reversing the usual construction process, our highly trained demolition team is able to take offshore structures apart methodically and safely, while ensuring that as much materials as possible are salvaged for re-use as part of our effort to reduce our carbon footprint.
Dredging and reclamation activities are performed to advance a shoreline and create new space for human activity. Because of the many different types of seabed materials and operational constraints encountered at different locations, every dredging and reclamation project is by nature unique. Before any such project commences, our specialized dredging and reclamation team will obtain and analyze all bathymetric survey and site data for the project area. This enables them to formulate and deploy the best methods to minimize environmental impact and apply mitigation factors where necessary, delivering every project successfully, safely and responsibly.
